Rebekah Hacker's Sampler by The Scarlet Letter

$20.00

| /

Rebekah was the daughter of a schoolmaster in Salem, Massachusetts, who died unmarried at age 22. She stitched her sampler at age 10 (1786). You'll find alphabets, verses, pattern bands, a lush landscape and a family.

The verse reads: Behold Alas our days we spend, how vain they are, how soon they end. May useful arts emply my youth and love of virtue and or truth. That when the fleeting moments end, a crown immortal I may find.
