This goes into the Masterpiece category, don't you think? Stunning on dark fabric with light floss, but it would be equally beautiful on light fabric with dark floss. So many amazing borders, motifs, and patterns. This was patterned after a German hungertuch (hunger cloth). These cloths were hung on the altar on Ash Wednesday to indicate the start of Lent.

There is a full explanation of motifs and words in the printed pattern.
